An Invitation to Connect

For those of you who are Portland based, I'm giving a talk on Justice Centered Social work at PSU next week.  The talk is hosted by the Portland Chapter of the Social Welfare Action Alliance  ( which completely rocks as an ally-activist community.  (you can join for not very much money AND you can subscribe to the Journal of Progressive Human Services if you join, for also not very much money. Totally a worth-while investment in your continuing progressive education!!) Here is the SWAA announcement, hope to see some of you there:

Heather Greene is our first Red Lunch Box presenter - she is a dynamic social worker who will be discussing social justice centered social work.


Heather Greene is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker came to beautiful Portland by way of farmland, redwood forests, deserts and mountains. Her evolving theoretical framework is informed by empowerment, narrative, feminist, ecofeminist, restorative, multicultural, solution-focused, earth-centered, justice-centered and anti-oppressive social work practice models. A student and practitioner of justice centered social work for over 10 years, she is deeply invested in the transformation of social work to be truly anti-oppressive through liberatory practice, justice-centered mentorship, and transformative social work education. In active support of this vision, she anchors the Social Work Activist Reader e-zine and maintains a mentorship and supervision practice for other humyn service workers dedicated to anti-oppressive practice
